Life Transformation Through Mind Renewal
"Unstuck and Moving Forward..."
by Steve Brunkhorst
You might have heard someone say, "I feel stuck. I don't know what to do." Perhaps, you have experienced a situation where you felt that you were "in a rut", lost, unable to move in any direction.
Motivational author, Robert Collier (1885-1950) wisely observed that "All motion is cyclic. It circulates to the limits of its possibilities and then returns to its starting point." Yet, for any motion to begin, or for motion to change direction, an outside force must come into play. Likewise in life, if we find ourselves stuck in one place, we must begin to think in new ways, placing new forces of thought, faith, and behavior into action. Here are the most essential forces that you can put into action today.
Crystallize and focus on your goals.
What do you want, exactly? Hold the focus of your thoughts consistently on your intended outcome and on reasons why you can achieve what you want.
Take personal responsibility for your objectives.
When you focus on your outcome, you remove your mind from excuses and blame for failure. Own your goals, and take responsibility for each choice of action you take.
Identify your position and drop old baggage.
If you feel stuck, ask yourself, where am I exactly, and how did I get there? Imagine viewing your life situation from a high position above you. This will broaden your perspective. Note how you got where you are and the various paths forward that you can now choose from. If you are carrying "mind-baggage" such as old disappointments, fears, and resentments, drop them now. They will only pollute and spoil the good things in your future.
Identify the first step forward.
From a broader perspective, you will see various choices you did not notice previously. Where is your best path and first stepping-stone? It might be a phone call you need to make, a class you need to attend, a letter you need to write, or a book you need to read. Step onto it by taking one action today. Now you have started moving forward again.
Move around obstacles.
Staying focused on your intended outcome will allow you to move around inevitable obstacles in your path without becoming discouraged. An outcome focus will also reveal one stepping-stone after the next; it will show you how to arrange these stepping-stones to your advantage.
Resolve to keep moving.
The points we too often view as the limits of our possibilities are not limits at all. Rather, they are a point we mistakenly identify as the limit of our capabilities. When the Creator places a goal in our minds, He also gives us the means to reach it. Resolve to keep moving forward, solving problems one by one. Refuse to quit as long as you can take one more step forward.
Live in gratitude daily.
Offer thoughts of gratitude for everything you do have and for everything you desire. Gratitude provides instant positive focus. You will continue to get more of all those blessings that you focus on with a spirit of thanksgiving.
Wishing you blessings and success! :-)
